The air at the natatorium is thick with anticipation (and a healthy dose of chlorine) as the Lions swim team enters their final week of intensive training. With the District Championships scheduled for this Saturday at the Aquatic Center, both the boys' and girls' squads are tapering their yardage to ensure peak explosive power. After a dominant regular season where our swimmers broke three school records, expectations are sky-high for a podium finish.

The girls' team is led by standout junior Maya Chen, who is favored to meddle in the 100m Butterfly. "We’ve been focusing on our turns and underwater transitions," Chen said during a break in practice. "In a championship meet, those fractions of a second are the difference between a gold medal and fourth place. The energy in the locker room is electric right now." On the boys' side, the 200m Freestyle Relay team remains undefeated, looking to shave another second off their season-best time to qualify for the State meet.

Head Coach Marcus vandenberg emphasized that mental toughness will be just as important as physical speed this weekend. "The physical work is done; now it's about confidence," Coach vandenberg noted. Important Reminder: The team bus departs from the gym entrance at 7:00 AM sharp this Saturday. Fans are encouraged to wear school colors and bring plenty of spirit! For those traveling to support the team, please note that the venue has a strict "clear bag" policy for spectators.
Let's finish the season strong, Lions! Show your school pride and continue to support our amazing athletes as they strive for excellence on and off the field! We are so proud of everything you have accomplished!
