Career Day
Mertz Middle will be hosting its second annual Career Day on Wednesday, April 5th! The purpose of Career Day is to expose students to a variety of careers in order to jumpstart their thinking about the future. By preparing early, students will be more likely to be college and career ready after high school graduation.
Here are some steps that a student can take to help them find a career they like:
- Identify their interests: Students can start by identifying the activities, subjects, or hobbies that they enjoy the most. This can give them a sense of what type of work they might find fulfilling.
- Take career assessments: There are many career assessment tools available online that can help students identify their strengths, interests, and personality traits, and suggest careers that might be a good fit.
- Research career options: Students should research careers that align with their interests and skills, looking into the required education and training, job outlook, and earning potential.
- Gain experience: Students can gain valuable experience and insights into potential careers by participating in internships, volunteering, or job shadowing.
- Network: Students can reach out to professionals in fields they are interested in to learn more about their work and gain insights into potential career paths.
- Seek guidance: Students can seek guidance from a career counselor, academic advisor, or mentor to help them explore career options and develop a career plan. Make an appointment with your counselor today!
Overall, finding a career that is a good fit takes time and effort. By exploring their interests, gaining experience, and seeking guidance, students can develop a better understanding of their strengths and interests, and find a career that is both fulfilling and rewarding.
