There's Always Something Happening at Mertz Middle!
Our halls are buzzing with activity, from major events to meaningful learning experiences.
One week, we're welcoming families at Open House, and the next, we're enjoying the crisp air at our annual Fall Festival. Our talented students are always preparing for their next big show, whether it's a concert from the Band and Chorus or a stunning Dance performance.
Beyond the big events, our students are constantly growing. They're exploring future possibilities on Career Day and learning valuable life skills in assemblies, like how to navigate peer pressure and make positive choices.
Middle school represents a pivotal period in a child's life. As they navigate the increasing complexities of peer relationships, academic responsibility, and their own emerging identities, active parental involvement is not just helpful but absolutely critical. While middle schoolers are naturally striving for more independence, they still need a consistent source of guidance.
Engaged parents provide the essential scaffolding that helps students process new pressures, reinforce the values of integrity and empathy, and make positive choices, ultimately ensuring they have the support needed to emerge from this formative stage as confident and resilient young adults.
With so many amazing things happening every day, how can you stay in the loop?

Floating Boxes

Advice from a College Freshman
For Gracie Perring, a 2020 Vincent High graduate who’s now a freshman at Appalachian State University, the best part of college life is being on her own five hours away from home. The worst part:
Compact View
No teaser text. A horizontal sliding carousel appears if set to display more than 4 posts, and more than 4 posts are available. Recommend showing at least 10 posts. Recommend 3:2 aspect ratio, such as 600 x 400, if you want to avoid the background blurring.
Rows
The largest option available. Images are free to display in their original proportions, but will always be 200px wide so they line up neatly on the left. Recommended size is 600x400 (3:2 aspect ratio) simply for consistency with other styles, but any size works. Do avoid images that are smaller than 200px wide to avoid pixelation.
