Mertz Middle School

Lakeside Schools broke ground on land that was gifted to the school district in 2005, beginning construction of a new Lakeside Primary School. This new school will be an important place of learning where our youngest students will begin their educational experience. When we were designing the new school, we asked ourselves these questions:

• What can we create that will transform the learners of today into the builders of tomorrow?
• What will provide the most benefit to our community for generations to come?
• How can we be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us? 

Using the learning experiences of our students as our foremost guide, we settled on an exciting plan for this new facility. On one side we will serve our Pre-K and Kindergarten students. At the center of the campus, we will feature beautiful shared common spaces housing our cafeteria, media center, and gym. On the other side, we will serve our first, second, and third graders. The 224,800-square-foot school building will be located on a 33-acre campus on Westchase Road in the Lake Grove subdivision. The school is expected to begin welcoming students in August of 2023.
